MUSIC FOR CONCERT
One of my first musical experiences was playing clarinet (and later saxophone) in a school concert band…………
To this day, I feel very comfortable writing for this ensemble. Throughout my often hectic and deadline focused television and film composing career, I have always tried to set aside time for an occasional band piece. The concert band is an exhilarating and rich ensemble that allows me to express, and share with you, a multitude of emotions. Here is a selection of new band works that I think you'll find to be a rewarding and worthwhile addition to an already rich tapestry of fine concert literature. Besides the compositions listed here, I am also available for commission of new works, guest conducting and lecturing.

Grand Opening
Filled with a driving positive energy, a soaring melody and exuberant joy, Grand Opening makes for a robust and engaging concert opening number. An exciting fanfare introduces the three motifs utilized throughout the piece. The main theme is presented in the clarinets and then goes through four variations. The horns lead us into a more austere 'B' section. A buildup into a recap of the 'A' material leads us into an energetic and exciting coda. (performance time 3:20)

Resonant Reflections
five chorales for concert band
1. to relax and reflect    1:28                score sample
2. to repose and restore    1:50                score sample
3. to respond and renew    1:54                score sample
4. to rejoin and redeem    1:40                score sample
5. to release and relent    1:20                score sample

Each movement's brief performance time, gentle melodic shape and simple harmonic movement make for a refreshing and soothing musical presentation. Designed to work as warm up pieces, or short concert selections, they have been composed and orchestrated to allow each section to have 'featured' moments. An attempt has been made to explore a full, but comfortable range for each instrument. The percussion parts are all optional.

Each movement individually available from Alfred Publications
1. Adoration    9:25
2. Confession    6:10
3. Thanksgiving    6:05
4. Supplication    8:50

A major work that explores the composer's own awakening faith. Beautiful and lyrical themes are juxtaposed against moments of mystery, darkness, revelation and prayerful entreaty. A challenging, but ultimately, very rewarding piece.
